Dog in distress

Hello lovely FleetFm listeners. I was a tad preoccupied on this week’s show, as my dog has been a bit ill. I love that hound, so I’ve been a bit distressed. Listen to the show to find out more.

As an update, he’s been to the vets and he’s ok. Probably just a sprain. He’s still crying a bit now and then though. A crying dog is not a happy sound.

Anywah, on today’s show, we have a great new favourite band - Young Rival. Check them right out.

Also, I played some tracks from the past, to discover whether they stood the test of time. Seeing those three song titles together in the playlist below, it really hit home how important each song was to me in my college years. I must have listened to each one countless times - they are part of my musical fibre. Thankfully, The Doughboys still sound exciting and cool. The other two tunes aren’t half bad either.

There’s also an Auction based tune to advertise The FleetFM Art Auction - happening this Saturday at Kevin Shield’s Arcade on K Road in Auckland. Come on down and bag yourself an arty treat.

Finally - I’m working on launching a new music website. It’s going to be pant shittingly amazing, even though I say so myself. The brains behind it - Django Beatty - is some pretty big brains let me tell you. We’re after quality bloggers and writers - head over to noiseloop.com and register your interest if you want to get involved.

And finally finally - I want to plug the speed dating night at the DOC. It’s on Thursday this week - and apparently, it’s a complete babe fest at the moment. Single guys who want to push up their dating average and meet some hot ladies should head down there for 7pm.

Cheers ears!

Country music time - at the DOC on August 14th

Gram gram the bacon man

Hey folks. I played country music on this week’s show on Fleet. But the show recorder doodaddy wasn’t working, hence no mp3 to download.

There are, however, lots of similar country tinged shows to download over at my La Grange blog - http://la-grange.uber.com.

Talking of La Grange, I’m doing my club night of the same name at the DOC tonight - August 14th. Those of you going to Craftwerk can flit between the venues like social butterflies.

Out of the metal loop

Tha Brood!

Yow. I enjoyed today’s show. There’s a slight metal edge to the proceedings, with some epic metal pomposity from Bresnard Lakes, a track by Black Sabbath and a metal band for this week’s new favourite band - Torche.

I was in a few metal bands as a kid. See the above pic, and you can just tell that we rocked. Hard. We thought we did at the time anyway. Our highlight was speaking to someone from Metal Duck on the phone about a possible support gig in Nottingham. Metal Duck were a comedy offshoot of Napalm Death, I think. Needless to say, it never happened.

Enjoy:

MEEMAW are your New Favourite Band

Full Teddy English
Hey pardners. How’s your week been? I hope it’s been the best week of your life.

It’s a good solid show this week, with some great tracks by Glasvegas, Jim Croce, The Avett Brothers and Deliverance. Tasty.

I’m starting a new feature called New Favourite Band - where I recommend a new band, that will hopefully become a favourite of yours. This week, it’s Meewmaw, who deserve to be huge. Not physically, but popularity wise.

Also, there’s a bit of a suspensful drama built into this week’s show. Will I manage to overcome my technical stupidity and get the news phone working? Listen to find out.

You can get the show here:

Welcome to The Full English

The Full English

Howdy folks. I did the first of my Tuesday breakfast shows this morning, and I had a blast.

I couldn’t get the newsphone to work, which was a shame. And for that I apologise. But I’m going to be trained by experts, so next week, you should get your news fix at the regular times.

I played rock n roll stuff, with a bit of soul, and just a smidgen of country as I couldn’t help it.

Conundrums for the day:

1) What should I call the show? I reckon THE FULL ENGLISH, because I love a full english breakfast. The site of one before me when I’m hung over brings tears of joy to my eyes.

2) What should I call myself? I used to be Dave Artrocker, as for a few years I’ve edited www.artrocker.com. But I’m in the process of falling out with the artrocker overlords. Damn.

Anyway - Krissy suggested ‘DJ Dave’. Nice and simple. Mat suggested ‘Something that’s a cross between Jesus and the Wild West’. Original, but too complex. Answers on a postcard…

You can get the freaking show here:
